If you can do so safely, photograph the vehicles, the positions, the damage, the road, traffic signals, and any visible injuries. Exchange information with the other driver and collect names and numbers of witnesses.
In the Days After
See a doctor even if you feel fine; adrenaline masks injuries, and a documented medical record links your injuries to the crash. Notify your insurer, but be careful giving recorded statements to the other driver's insurance company.
Keep a file of medical bills, repair estimates, and missed-work records. Avoid posting about the crash on social media, where insurers look for ways to dispute your claim.
